Overview

People are part of every security program. Structured awareness assessments can help organizations understand where processes, reporting channels, and identity checks may be improved without resorting to harmful or deceptive real-world activity outside an agreed scope.

An assessment is time- and scope-bounded. Findings describe the tested conditions; they do not establish the absence of all vulnerabilities or guarantee a security outcome.

What the engagement examines

  • Approved phishing simulation scenarios
  • Employee reporting and escalation workflows
  • Business email compromise readiness
  • Identity verification and help-desk procedures
  • Training recommendations based on observations

The work in practice

Choose a workflow rather than a trap: reporting a suspicious message, verifying an unusual payment request or handling a password-reset request. Establish organizational approval and the permitted audience. Use safe simulation material and avoid collecting real passwords. Aggregate reporting can show whether the process worked without turning the exercise into public employee scoring. Debriefing and practical follow-up are part of making the exercise useful.

Useful outputs. Not vague assurances.

  • Written authorization and exercise boundaries
  • Aggregate exercise observations
  • Process gaps and improvement priorities
  • Awareness recommendations and follow-up plan

What you receive

  • Improve reporting habits
  • Strengthen high-risk business workflows
  • Support a practical security-aware culture

Clear decisions. Traceable delivery.

Scope & authorize

Agree on objectives, owners, boundaries, exclusions and the evidence needed to answer the question.

Review & validate

Perform the authorized work and record observations. Escalate critical findings through the agreed channel.

Explain & prioritize

Connect technical observations to business impact, practical actions and remaining uncertainties.

Handover & follow up

Review findings with your team and agree on any implementation or retest as a separate, traceable step.

Insights

Penetration testing, Red Team or Purple Team: choose the right assessment.

Choose by the decision you need to make, not by the most impressive service name. Scope, evidence and defensive readiness matter more than labels.

Read Full Guide

Before we get started.

Service scope, delivery terms and availability are agreed individually.

Are employee phishing simulations authorized?

Yes. Simulations should proceed only with formal organizational approval, clear boundaries, and appropriate handling of employee information.

Do you publish individual employee results?

Reporting and privacy requirements should be agreed in the engagement scope. The preferred approach emphasizes program improvements rather than public employee scoring.

What is needed before an engagement starts?

A confirmed scope, authorized owners, relevant access and agreed operating constraints. We do not begin intrusive testing based only on a general enquiry.

Will an assessment automatically change production systems?

No. Assessment and implementation are separate permissions. Any change requires approval, validation and an appropriate recovery plan.
